From March 29 to 30, 2018, a workshop was held in Bamako, Mali, to validate the documentary study on the implementation of a strategic approach to promoting storage receipt systems (SRE) in East Africa. Where is. Organized by the West African Cereal Network with financial support from the Global Alliance for the Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA), the aim of this workshop was to validate the synthesis of relevant experiences between adapted storage in West Africa and have a benchmark approach to promoting SRE and third-party detention in West Africa.
Based on a participatory approach, the meeting allowed to examine the provisional report submitted by the Consultant; to analyze the results of the study and contribute to the improvement of the tools and participatory approach for the promotion of CRS and third-party detention offered; validate the reference strategy and other tools for promoting Storage Receipt Systems in West Africa and propose an action plan and roadmap for promoting SRE for structured trade in west Africa.
It should be noted that cereals also play an essential role in West Africa, not only in agricultural systems, but also in the food basket of households, and therefore contribute significantly to food and nutritional security in the region. Cereals occupy a fifth of the region’s arable and cultivated land and provide full-time or part-time employment to about 80% of the population of West Africa.
